Dental veneers are custom-made shells for your teeth. These shells cover the front of your teeth to give your natural teeth a better appearance. These shells are often made of porcelain or from the resin of composite materials. Porcelain veneers are typically better for resisting stains from food and drinks, while the resin veneers give a more natural look. Although veneers are often used for cosmetic purposes, they can be used to fix numerous issues such as:

• Discoloration in your teeth
• Chipped, broken or worn teeth
• To close gaps between teeth and enhance shape and alignment
• Improve the appearance of your smile

Dental veneers are permanently attached to your teeth, prior to your procedure, the veneer will be placed on the teeth temporarily to examine if it is a good fit. The veneer may need to be trimmed or have the color adjusted to ensure they provide the appearance you are looking for.

The healing process for veneers is simple and does not take an extended period of time to fully recover. You can eat and drink as you normally would following the procedure. Veneers can last 5-15 years depending on the type. It is important to remember not to chew on hard objects such as pens or ice, not to clench your teeth, and wear a mouthguard during any intense physical or sporting activities. These precautions will help the veneers have an extended lifespan.
